Medical Massage For Fibromyalgia

Explains the developmental process of fibromyalgia and demonstrates the hands-on protocol of full-body massage for patients with fibromyalgia.

Clinical symptoms
The main clinical symptom is pain that increases: at night, during deep breathing, when the head is bent and turned to the unaffected side, and when the arm is abducted. The pain spreads to the shoulder, armpit and lateral part of the thoracic cage. Also, patients complain about numbness and paraesthesia on the ulnar edge of the hand (hypothenar and 4th-5th fingers) and arm. One of the most important diagnostic signs is diversity of vasomotor changes. These can be the result of insufficient arterial blood supply to the arm (pain in the hand especially after exposure to lower temperatures; pale, cold skin; cyanosis; weak pulse) or insufficient venous blood drainage from the arm (edemas and increased skin temperature). If anterior scalene muscle syndrome exists for a long period of time, without adequate treatment, the hand will lose its strength because of muscle atrophy mostly at the ulnar edge of the arm and the hypothenar.
An important clinical sign involves Wartenberg’s test. If the examiner palpates in the spot where the anterior scalene muscle inserts into the first rib, local pain will appear. This test allows the practitioner to differentiate anterior scalene muscle syndrome can secondarily evoke rotator cuff syndrome. This is a very important diagnostic test because irritation of the brachial plexus by an over-tensed anterior scalene muscle can secondarily evoke rotator cuff syndrome. if the practitioner mistakenly starts treatment of this pathology as a rotator cuff syndrome, it will not yield significant results because the real cause of the problem is anterior scalene muscle syndrome.

    Dear hartocute,

The step by step protocol presented on the DVD#3 has been proven to be effective in management of fibromyalgia. Having said this it depends a lot on how well the person will learn and adapt to the material. The protocols must be performed every other day consistently.

    Best Wishes,

    i did the exact …
i did the exact same thing to my ankle about 6 months ago. your best allies will be heat, time, and controlled stretches. However, ankle sprains like that usualy rip muscle pretty badly, so it will be months, or possibly years before it comes bac kto 100%, if it ever does. mine still occasionally gives out on me w/o warning. Soak it in hot water when it hurts, stretch it until you feel a comfortable (IE, not extreme) burn, and just keep using it to strengthen he muscles.

    Dear cescronaldo17 .
Thank you very much for so nice comment. most important that you have used word”rehabilitation”. now days massive phenomena of very damaging reinjuries like total ligaments, muscles, tendons tears is a results of temporary inhibition of pain and not full rehabilitation. I produced self treatment DVDs in order to help people to avoid surgery;s and to be able to leave normal active life. if you received less than 15 comprehensive treatments please continue.
    Best wishes

I have suffered from a dislocated patella injury in football. I have watched many of your sports injury related videos and many of your other videos and I would just like to say thank you. Your sports injury videos and rehabilitation advice has helped me a lot and I think you are a very good role model to people.

    Thank you

    Absolutely, I agree …
Absolutely, I agree. I see a very good physiotherapist when I have flare ups. As a Sickness beneficiary I cannot afford to drive to see her much so I only see her when the pain has become intrusive and made it unable for me to do my exercises. Regular exercise is also a very important factor. especially when it comes to helping us flush toxins and old blood through our system which we are unable to do naturally anymore due to our condition. Massage would be another way to help the blood flow.

  20. mgaft1 Says:

    Dear blackspiralD, …
Dear blackspiralD, You are absolutely right in your advise about supplements, exercise, etc. However, Fibromayalgia is a slowly developing Fibromyositis, which is a chronic inflammation within muscles, tendons and other connective tissue. If Fibromyositis will develop to significant degree with no massage utilization, it would be very difficult to manage this syndrome. For details please read my article on my website.
    Best Wishes,
    Boris

    Fibromayalgia …
Fibromayalgia doesn’t just ‘go away’ I suggest you get her to change immediatly to an informed doctor who has dealt with suffers like us before. I have this syndrome. Constant self care, suppliments, exercise and a disciplined diet are the only ways to keep it from taking over and the pain becoming unbearable.
